The Bard College Department of Athletics and Recreation is in search of a part-time Assistant Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach. The role will report to the Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach for all matters related to the position description listed below.
Essential Duties:
- Assist the Head Coach in on-court instruction and various aspects of the tennis programs as assigned.
- Attend practices and games, help in planning and running practices, analyze and present practice/game film and stats, create opponent scouts, maintain effective communication with current student-athletes, and perform other duties under the supervision of the Head Coach.
- Assist with team matters such as recruiting, inventory, academic support, camps and clinics, executing and maintaining the program’s social media sites, and other related tasks.
- May drive institutional vehicles to and from practices and games, and lead the team in the absence of the Head Coach.
- Must comply with all College, NCAA, and Liberty League rules and policies, as well as policies and procedures in the Bard College Staff Handbook.
The Head Coach and other Athletic Department staff will assist the right candidate in finding other employment opportunities, including coaching opportunities with local youth clubs, college recruiting events and showcases, Bard and external camps and clinics, and other positions within Bard Athletics and at Bard College more broadly.
Bard will provide assistant coaches with opportunities for coaching development and education through coaching courses, clinics, licensure, and attendance at coaches’ conventions.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a player and/or coach is recommended.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to travel as needed for competition and recruiting.
- Must have an interest in supporting an environment that encourages students of all experience and ability levels and from diverse backgrounds.

Compensation: $17,500. This salary range reflects the College’s estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting.
