This esteemed recognition celebrates Fowles’ exceptional career and her lasting influence on the WNBA and the sport of basketball.
A Dominant Presence on the Court
“I am incredibly proud that Syl is being honored by the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for her illustrious career. Syl is the most dominant center to have ever played in the WNBA and posed a formidable challenge on both offense and defense. Syl would outwork her opponents to score, disrupt post touches, and block shots with incredible skill. However, it was the joy she brought to her team, the franchise, and the fans every day that will be cherished forever,” said Minnesota Lynx Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations, Cheryl Reeve.
Fowles, renowned for her remarkable athleticism and defensive skills, retired in 2022 after a 15-year tenure in the WNBA. Over eight years with the Lynx, she established herself as one of the most dominant centers the league has witnessed.
