Broad Arrow Auctions has revealed that the 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Rennversion will be available at the upcoming Monterey Auction on August 14-15. This specific chassis, 993-GT1-108, is one of only nine GT1s made for customers originally. Notably, it is being offered directly from a long-time private owner who is a respected Porsche collector. The vehicle has not been significantly damaged or taken apart and remains in excellent condition.
Jakob Greisen, Senior Car Specialist for Broad Arrow Auctions, expressed excitement about the opportunity to sell this iconic piece of Porsche history. The GT1 has a noteworthy racing history and has been well maintained throughout its existence.
The GT1 was originally used by the Roock Racing Team in the 1997 FIA GT Championship and later participated in the 1997 Le Mans 24 Hours race alongside well-known drivers. Subsequently, it excelled during the 1997 U.S. PSCR season, winning the IMSA GTS-1 class championship. It is now being offered by a distinguished Porsche collector.
