Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) has been discussed more than ever recently, with rumours circulating that “El Gallo” will face Canelo Alvarez. This huge crossover fight seemingly fell apart, with Alvarez deciding to sign a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, starting with William Scull in May. Paul has been criticised more than ever, with the 28-year-old facing mostly ageing MMA and Boxing stars. 20-1 super middleweight Steven Nelson has issued a public callout via his X account to face Paul.

Nelson Issues Challenge to Jake Paul: ‘Whatever Weight You Want’

Paul has been posting regularly in the last few days, aiming his displeasure at Canelo regarding the collapsed negotiations for their fight. Nelson recently lost for the first time in his professional career against the talented Diego Pacheco.

Nelson has made it clear he’s prepared to face Paul: “Aye @jakepaul since Canelo is fighting my brother @terencecrawford instead of you, me and you can fight at whatever weight you want TIME TO FIGHT A REAL…ACTIVE… BOXER, JAKE!!!”

MVP Responds to Breakdown of Canelo Fight Talks

Whatever Paul decides next, his social media posts make it clear he’s not happy with recent developments. Most Valuable Promotions, the company co-founded by Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, recently released a statement giving their side of recent events:

“MVP was deep in negotiations for a blockbuster fight between Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez on Cinco de Mayo weekend in Las Vegas, a massive event for the Mexican, Puerto Rican and American fans, and it’s disappointing to see how the situation unfolded. MVP operates with integrity, transparency, and respect for the sport, its athletes, and the fans. Unfortunately, not everyone in the boxing world shares those values.

This situation is a reminder not to believe everything you read, especially when the current media environment is often controlled by those with hidden agendas, including promoters who have reporters on their payroll.

We remain in active discussions with multiple high-profile opponents and are committed to delivering the biggest fights, the most exciting events, and to working with partners who share our values and our commitment to boxing and its fighters.

Jake Paul isn’t going anywhere, and neither is MVP. We’ll continue to disrupt boxing, on our terms.”

Steven Nelson has made it clear he’s ready to face the MVP co-founder, offering Jake Paul the real test the boxing world craves.
