Memphis, TN – After four days intense competition between athletes from many of the most prestigious college tennis programs from around the country, the singles and doubles champions have now been crowned at the 2025 ITA National Summer Championships powered by WTN.

Bolstering a prize pool of $20,000 in addition to ITA All-American Championship wild cards (for active Division I athletes only) as well as USTA Pro Circuit wild cards (for American finalists only), the ITA National Summer Championships have once again proved to be a rewarding option for collegiate athletes to take part in over the summer months.

With four championship matches taking place on Tuesday, both the men’s and women’s singles finals were the first to hit the courts in Memphis as Lucas Brown [1] (Texas) faced off against Moritz Kudernatsch [3] (Memphis) in the men’s final while Saray Yli-Piipari [3] (Tennessee) matched up against Sophia Holod [5] (Notre Dame) in the women’s final.

Between Brown (7.23 WTN) and Kudernatsch (7.32 WTN), it was a battle of playing styles as Brown relied on his fitness and consistent ground strokes to best the big serving Kudernatsch 6-2, 6-4 in today’s final. As a rising junior for the Longhorns, Brown has continued to improve season-after-season in Austin and will set himself up nicely to do so again this season, earning a ITA All-American main draw wild card which is now a qualifying event for the NCAA Individual Championships in the fall.

Meanwhile in the contest between Yli-Piipari (14.68 WTN) and Holod (16.76 WTN) is was the Lady Vol who came out victorious, besting the incoming freshman for the Irish 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 to claim the title. In addition to a trip to Cary for the ITA All-American Championships Yli-Piipari also took home $3,000 in prize money for winning the singles draw.

In doubles, the Baylor duo of Luc Koenig and Luis Jose Nakamine faced off against the on-site pairing of Cody Benton (NC State) and Martin Vergara (ETSU) in a battle between the two top seeded teams. In the women’s final, the Lady Vols were once again represented as Yli-Piipari teamed up with teammate Vanesa Suarez to take on the Northwestern duo of Erica Jessel and Maia Loureiro.

In the men’s doubles final, Koenig and Nakamine battled back from a big deficit in the third set ten point tiebreak to get the better of Benton and Vergara, winning 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 in the final. The duo mark the second straight doubles team from Baylor to win the men’s doubles title at the ITA National Summer Championships and will now have a main draw spot awaiting them at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa.

To close out the day, our singles champion was back out on court with partner and teammate Suarez to take on the Wildcat duo of Jessel and Loureiro. Jumping out to an early start, Yli-Piipari and Suarez were all over the Northwestern duo in the final winning 6-1, 6-1 to take home the title. This marks the second straight year in which a player swept both the singles and doubles title at the ITA National Summer Championships as Yli-Piipari joins Eleana Yu (Duke) who accomplished this last year alongside partner Emma Jackson.

The ITA National Summer Championships powered by WTN mark the conclusion of the ITA Summer Series which brings over 50 tournaments to college campuses across the country through the ITA Summer Masters Series and the ITA Summer Points Race Series. Through these events, thousands of collegians as well as high-ranked junior players were able to compete in highly competitive competition over the summer months.
