Akira Miura usually competes against Ronald Basso in their Toyota Land Cruisers, but the Rallye du Maroc was a different experience with competitors like a Red-Lined REVO+ GT-R and a Century CR7-T.
Miura’s Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport had air intakes on the bonnet and an Emirati-designed engine, setting it apart from Basso’s Land Cruiser. Due to lack of FIA homologation, Miura raced in the Open class while Basso’s Land Cruiser competed in the Stock category.
His production-based Land Cruiser was grouped with machines from the premier Ultimate class. Martin Koloc drove a Red-Lined REVO GT-R while Sam Heyvaert was in a Nissan Red-Lined T1.1. Koloc set the fastest times among Open cars in the initial stages.
Koloc eventually withdrew from the race after his daughter’s accident, focusing on developing the GT-R for the 2025 season. Miura, on the other hand, tested his Land Cruiser in the desert to prepare for the Dakar Rally.
Mathieu Serradori and his Century CR7-T were reassigned from the Ultimate to the Open class due to disqualification. The Jongbloed Dakar Team entered two Renault hybrid trucks in the Open category as well.
Ali Oubassidi dominated the Open SSV category, while Bartłomiej Kotwica faced mechanical issues despite notching a stage win.
