The New York Liberty have made it to the WNBA Finals once again and are now waiting to see the outcome of the final game of the semifinal matchup between the Connecticut Sun or the Minnesota Lynx, which will determine their opponent.
With the goal of winning its first WNBA championship, New York advanced to the finals for the second consecutive year after beating the Las Vegas Aces 76-62 on Sunday to win the semifinal series 3-1. Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty, averaging 20.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game this postseason. New York has reached six WNBA Finals – including last season when they lost to the Aces – but has yet to secure a title.
In the other WNBA semifinal matchup, the Lynx and Sun will compete in Game 5 with the series tied at 2-2. The Sun won Game 1, while the Lynx took Game 2 and 3 to lead the series 2-1. However, the Sun fought back on Sunday to win Game 4, 92-82, and extend the series. The standout player of this series is MVP runner-up Napheesa Collier of Minnesota, who has been exceptional in the postseason, averaging 27.2 points and 9.3 rebounds over six games.
