The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motorsport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide has announced the winners of the 2025 FIA President’s Awards during the FIA General Assemblies week in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Launched by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem in 2022, the FIA President’s Awards recognise and celebrate the excellence, creativity, and positive community impact of FIA Member Clubs around the world. This year, two new categories have been launched celebrating ‘Excellence in Communication’ and ‘National Motorsport Achievement’.

Following a record 72 entries across the two categories, the winners were selected by an expert panel of judges and will each receive €10,000 to reinvest in their ongoing activities, reaffirming the FIA’s commitment to supporting the vital work of its Member Clubs.

The Excellence in Communication Award was awarded to the Speciality Equipment Market Association (SEMA) for its historic two-year national advocacy campaign defending Americans’ right to choose internal combustion, hybrid, or electric vehicles. The Club’s ‘Fight to Preserve Vehicle Choice in the U.S.’ project has brought together 7,000 small businesses, 70 million automotive enthusiasts, and lawmakers across party lines. The National Motorsport Achievement Award was won by Svenska Bilsportförbundet (SBF) for their groundbreaking project, ‘Biodiversity and Motorsport – Racing for Nature’, and their work in integrating ecological practices into motorsport operations through on-site studies, expert partnerships, and national communications. Ten circuits have implemented habitat restoration, dry-meadow creation, and pollinator-friendly landscaping, supported by national agencies as a result of the project.

FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, said: “I launched the new FIA President’s Awards to champion the remarkable dedication, vision, and leadership of our Members. Their innovation is an inspiration to us all and I was proud to see such a growth in submissions from every region around the world.

Congratulations to SEMA and CEO Mike Spagnola, and SBF, President Jessica Bjurström and FIA Vice-President Anna Nordkvist on their success, and thank you to all Members that shared their submissions, it was an honour to witness the amazing work happening globally within the FIA community.”

SEMA President and CEO, Mike Spagnola, said: “SEMA is honoured to accept this award on behalf of our members and the broader U.S. community of automotive enthusiasts and consumers, for whom we fought this battle.

Thank you to President Mohammed Ben Sulayem for his recognition and shared commitment to supporting automotive enthusiasts around the world.”

FIA Vice-President for Sport (Europe) and Svenska Bilsportförbundet CEO, Anna Nordkvist, said: “It is a huge honour and when we look back on the other competitors as well we feel very honoured. It has been a passionate project for us in Sweden doing this over many years, and I want to thank the President for this award.”
