Memphis, TN – As the shining jewel of the summer schedule, the 2025 ITA National Summer Championships powered by WTN are set to get underway on Saturday at the Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Bringing together the top performers from the highly competitive ITA Summer Series powered by WTN, the National Summer Championships mark the conclusion of the two month summer slate.

Once again bolstering an impressive prize pool for competing players, the National Summer Championships will have $20,000 in total prize money up for grabs as well as USTA Pro Circuit Wild Cards* (for American finalists only), and ITA All-American Wild Cards* (for active Division I student-athletes only).

In Memphis, Texas’s Lucas Brown (7.23 WTN) will be the top seeded player as he makes his return to the Leftwich Tennis Center after a semifinal finish last year at the National Summer Championships. The rising junior was a doubles ITA All-American during the 2024-25 season, partnering with Timo Legout to reach the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship.

For the women, Tennessee’s Vanesa Suarez (13.47 WTN) will be the No. 1 seeded player in the draw. As a rising senior, Suarez stepped up to play an increased roll during the 2024-25 season with the Lady Vols. Finishing with a 22-11 singles record on the year, Suarez was a key component of Tennessee’s run to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships this past May.

Below is everything you need to know before the first serve at the ITA National Summer Championships:

What Are the ITA National Summer Championships?

The ITA National Summer Championships powered by WTN mark the culmination of the ITA Summer Series in which thousands of athletes compete at over 50 different tournaments across the country to earn one of the 32 spots into the ITA National Summer Championships. With a storied history as the premier summer championship on many top collegiate and junior calendars, the ITA National Summer Championships offer high-level competition that keeps players ready to compete when they head back to school in the fall.

How Do Players Qualify?

Competitors can qualify to compete in the ITA National Summer Championships powered by WTN through several avenues. The majority of competitors earned qualification into the Summer Championships by reaching the semifinals of the ITA Summer Masters Series, accounting for 24 automatic qualifiers of the 32-player field. Three additional qualifiers come from the ITA Summer Points Race Series, as these players compiled the best results over the six weeks of tournaments within the ITA Summer Series. For the remaining spots, the players will be selected on an at-large basis, by the highest WTN, from any competitor that competed in any ITA Summer Series event over the six weeks of play. The University of Memphis will also be allotted a select number of wild cards into the main draws as the host.

What Can Players Win?

Featuring an extensive prize pool, the 2025 ITA National Summer Championships powered by WTN will offer $20,000 in total prize money, USTA Pro Circuit Wild Cards, and ITA All-American Wild Cards. For the USTA Pro Circuit Wild Cards, a $25k Qualifying wild card will be awarded to both an American champion and finalist for the men, while for the women, the same offerings will be awarded at the $35k level. ITA All-American wild cards will be awarded as follows, singles and doubles champions will receive main draw wild cards while finalists will receive qualifying draw wild cards. These wild cards are only available for active Division I players only.
