FREDONIA, NY – The #5 Buffalo State women’s soccer team faced off against #4 Fredonia State Blue Devils in their first SUNYAC playoff appearance since 2016. Unfortunately, the Bengals fell 2-0 in their second ‘Battle By The Lake’ matchup of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bengals sought redemption after a challenging end to the regular season. The first half was intense with both teams battling for control and Fredonia scoring in the 41st minute. The Blue Devils carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Fredonia added another goal in the 52nd minute. Despite the Bengals’ efforts, they couldn’t overcome the deficit to end their season.
The Blue Devils dominated the game with 35 shots to the Bengals’ 7, securing 16 shots on goal compared to Buffalo State’s four. This matchup marked the first ‘Battle By The Lake’ since 2014, when the Bengals won in penalty kicks.
