Few players in women’s college basketball have been as consistent as Aneesah Morrow. She dominated in her first two seasons at DePaul, averaging 21.9 points and 13.8 rebounds as a freshman, followed by 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds as a sophomore before transferring to LSU.
In her first year with the Tigers, Morrow continued to impress; now, in her second year with LSU, she is averaging 18.8 points and 13.7 rebounds per game in her senior year. The question is where the 6’1″ forward will land in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Potential Fits for Aneesah Morrow in the 2025 WNBA Draft
With her combination of scoring, rebounding, and defensive versatility, Morrow has firmly placed herself on the radar of WNBA scouts ahead of the 2025 WNBA Draft. But where will she land? Here are five teams that could make a move for the LSU star.
Chicago Sky
A homecoming for the Chicago native makes perfect sense for both parties, and the Chicago Sky are set to have one first-round pick. Last season, the Sky ranked at the top of the WNBA in rebounding, and adding Morrow to the team would make that strength even stronger.
The hometown narrative also adds extra appeal, as bringing in a local star could energize Chicago’s fanbase. Adding to the intrigue, Morrow’s former LSU teammate Angel Reese has already shown interest in her.
“Me & Nees gon be killing eachother for rebounds in the W,” wrote Reese in an X post.
Connecticut Sun
The Connecticut Sun holds the eighth overall pick in 2025 and has been one of the league’s most consistent teams in recent years. However, the Sun could use a dynamic forward to bolster their frontcourt.
With Alyssa Thomas in Phoenix, Morrow could step in to fill the gap. Her rebounding ability and defensive presence would fit seamlessly with Connecticut’s identity. The Sun ranked second in the WNBA in second-chance points last season, an area where Morrow thrives, so she could help push them to the top.
Her ability to contribute immediately off the bench while developing into a key player makes Connecticut a strong fit.
Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics have multiple first-round draft picks, giving them the flexibility to pick up key players, with Morrow potentially being one of them.
Washington has struggled to find consistent production from their power forward position since Elena Delle Donne stepped away from the sport, creating a clear need for Morrow’s skill set. The Mystics’ defense-first philosophy aligns perfectly with Morrow’s tenacious style and ability to generate steals (2.5 SPG in her senior season).
Golden State Valkyries
The WNBA’s newest expansion franchise holds a protected top fifth pick in the 2025 draft, giving them a prime opportunity to make Morrow a cornerstone of their inaugural roster.
Golden State’s coaching staff, led by Natalie Nakase, plans to implement a system that rewards intelligent cutters and players who can create extra possessions, areas where Morrow excels with her 1.6 assists per game and elite offensive rebounding.
Indiana Fever
The Indiana Fever will not have any first-round draft picks in 2025, so this does not seem like a likely pairing, but they do have multiple second-rounders if they want to try and move up.
Despite Caitlin Clark’s generational playmaking ability, Indiana still lacks consistent interior scoring. Morrow, and her tenacity on the boards (career 12.4 RPG), would provide an immediate solution to the Fever’s inside presence.
