[ad_1]

Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.

As the basketball season draws ever closer, the Big Ten held its annual media day in Chicago. This included the Hoosiers being picked second in the media’s poll.

Besides this, roster and recruiting updates, Inside the Hall started a new series previewing each IU player, and weekly shows. We will, as usual, conclude with a look at other Indiana sports, led by football improving to a perfect 6-0 by beating Northwestern.

Here is what is in this week’s edition:

• IU picked to finish second in Big Ten• Updated IU basketball roster released• Class of 2025 recruiting updates• Player-by-player preview of the IU roster• Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows• Hoosier Roundup

IU men’s basketball will play several games this upcoming season on Peacock and the women will play a few as well, making the streaming service essential for IU basketball fans. Sign up for Peacock using Inside the Hall’s link to help support the site and also enjoy Big Ten hoops all season long! Banner #1 – IU picked to finish second in Big Ten

With the first exhibition just three weeks away, the 2024-2025 season draws closer. With the imminent start, the Big Ten held a media day for all its teams on both the men’s and women’s sides.

IU coach Mike Woodson as well as Trey Galloway and Myles Rice represented the Hoosiers there. As part of this event, incoming transfer Oumar Ballo was picked to be a first-team All-Big Ten performer and IU is projected to finish second behind Purdue in the league.

On the women’s side IU coach Teri Moren spoke along with players Chloe Moore-McNeil and Sydney Parrish. The team as a whole, is picked to be fifth in the conference.

Banner #2 – Updated IU basketball roster released

Another indication the season is right around the corner: updates to the roster on the IU website. Inside the Hall took a look at the new information which now includes walk-ons and weight gain for several players.

Banner #3 – Class of 2025 recruiting updates

IU’s 2025 class includes the commitment of Trent Sisley. However, the Hoosiers are looking for more as they try to reel in a top class.

The top remaining target continues to be in-state star Braylon Mullins, who is down to UConn, Indiana, and North Carolina. Also, Bryson Tiller is from the Hoosier state and included IU in his final four schools he announced recently. The other top prospects being perused are Mikel Brown Jr. and Eric Reibe from out-of-state.

Banner #4 – Player-by-player preview of the IU roster

Inside the Hall started a series previewing IU’s players. This week they looked at Bryson Tucker, Jakai Newton, Myles Rice, Mackenzie Mgbako, and Gabe Cupps.

Banner #5 – Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows

Podcast on the Brink was on-air last week. Tony Adragna helped to preview the upcoming season.

Crimson Cast, Bison Chat, Doing The Work, and Dribble Drive recorded shows for the Back Home Network. Finally, Woodson appeared on a national podcast called The Eye Of College Basketball.

Banner #6 – Hoosier Roundup

• Football defeated Northwestern in Evanston for the first time since 1993 to improve to 6-0.

• Men’s soccer had its best weekend of 2024 so far by beating ranked Wisconsin on the road and tying a solid Washington side at home.

• Volleyball beat Michigan State for their conference win of 2024.

• Women’s soccer fell to Washington.

• Men’s golf competed at the Windom Memorial Classic. Also, the 2027 NCAA Regional will take place in Bloomington.

• Field hockey was defeated by Maryland.

• Cross-country competed at the Earl Lake Front Invitational.

• Women’s basketball is holding their eighth annual Candy Stripe Crew basketball clinic.

• Two former Hoosier baseball players Tim Herrin and Kyle Schwarber are competing as part of the MLB postseason for the Cleveland Guardians and Philadelphia Phillies. Both had major contributions to their squads this season.

• Wrestling is hosting wrestle-offs.

Thanks for your continued support of The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall. We’ll be back next weekend with a new roundup.

Now go enjoy yourself a 6-banner Sunday.
