As the dog days of summer roll on in sunny South Florida, the Miami Dolphins continue to hit the practice fields in Miami Gardens for the all-important training camp sessions.
More time on the practice field means more opportunities for Dolphins players to be recognized for their outstanding performances in an effort to make the squad for the 2024 season. That recognition comes in the form of the orange jersey award given to the best performer from the previous practice.
Today’s recipient is defensive back Elijah Campbell!
Campbell has been a solid contributor in Miami since coming to the Dolphins in 2021. The 28-year-old contributes on special teams while also playing all over the defensive backfield.
With the Dolphins bringing in Jordan Poyer and Marcus Maye at the safety spot, combined with the superstar potential of Jevon Holland, Campbell will be unlikely to see meaningful snaps at the safety position this season barring an injury to one of the aforementioned players.
However, changes to the new NFL kickoff rules could see a rise in importance of special teams aces, and that is where Campbell’s value to the 2024 Miami Dolphins could truly be apparent.
