Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin’s friendship? Yeah, it’s built different. From leading Iowa to back-to-back NCAA championship games to hyping each other up in the pros, these two are the definition of BFF goals. Whether it’s trolling each other on social media, supporting one another through career milestones, or—apparently—securing perks from billion-dollar brands, Clark and Martin always have each other’s backs. And that bond just paid off in a hilarious way.

So here’s how it went down. Kate Martin recently partnered with DoorDash, the food delivery and takeout platform, which she calls a lifesaver on busy days. Or as she puts it, “comes in clutch during the season.” We see the wordplay. But it wasn’t the only one the former Hawkeye threw around.

Dropping the promo post, Martin added a cheeky caption: “Name someone that gives more assists than DoorDash? I’ll wait.” The playful nod to her time as a facilitator on the court was solid, but Caitlin Clark saw an opportunity. The Indiana Fever superstar wasted no time in the comments, writing, “Get me a free DashPass.” Just a straight-up demand from a bestie to another.

But… this time, it was the brand, with a market cap of $81 Billion as of today, hopping on the opportunity.

DoorDash saw Clark’s comment and responded instantly: “@caitlinclark22 Say less. We got you.” Just like that, the reigning NCAA assist queen pulled off yet another perfect dime—this time for a free DashPass. Talk about influence!

But let’s be real, this isn’t the first time these two have had fun at each other’s expense. Just recently, Martin starred in a new Samsung ad promoting the Galaxy smartphone and the Unrivaled League. Clark? She wasn’t letting that slide. Instead of just hyping up her friend, she playfully called her out in the comments: “Send me the new number then.” No matter how big they get, the friendly jabs never stop.

And if you think this dynamic is new, think again. At the start of the year, Martin shared a 2024 Instagram dump featuring none other than Clark, captioning it: “I’d go everywhere with these folks, including into year ‘25.” Clark dropped the most-liked comment, simply writing, “Love.”

Martin’s impact goes beyond just supporting Clark, though. Indiana needed a backup point guard, and Aces’ veteran Sydney Colson was a prime target. Despite expectations that she’d stay in Las Vegas, Colson ended up signing a one-year, $90,000 deal with the Fever. The move gave Indiana a seasoned leader, and sources suggest that Clark actively pushed for Colson to join the team. Martin’s role?

“She said she heard some good things about Caitlin Clark from her Aces teammate Kate Martin as well. So that made the decision easy,” broadcaster Emily Proud revealed.  Just another way these two continue to assist each other—on and off the court.

And speaking of perks, Caitlin Clark’s player-exclusive Nike Kobes are set to be released soon. Looks like she’s about to deliver another big assist—this time, to sneaker fans everywhere.

Caitlin Clark’s Nike Kobes Drop Soon—Here’s What to Know

Caitlin Clark gave fans a first look at her Nike Kobe 5 Protos during a WNBA Playoff game last season. Since then, sneakerheads have been waiting for their shot to grab a pair. The wait is almost over. Clark’s sneakers drop on June 1.

At least two designs are expected. One is the “Indiana Fever” colorway, matching her look when she debuted the shoes. The other is a light blue and white Nike Kobe 6 Protos. But before you get too excited, there’s a catch.

According to Sports Illustrated, Nike doesn’t usually release big-name sneakers on Sundays. That means Clark’s shoes could first land on SNKRS (Nike’s app) before hitting stores later in the week. Another unknown? Whether the blue colorway will be available at launch. The Fever-themed sneaker is confirmed, though, and will retail for $190. Expect them to sell out fast.

This is just the start of Clark’s sneaker journey. As a part of the eight-year, $28 million deal, her own signature shoe is already in the works. Nike’s Elliott Hill confirmed Clark spent time at the headquarters designing them. That is poised to be a milestone for the books.

But as we said, no matter how big they get, the friendly jabs will never stop.
