Most big-time athletes in every sport attract attention off the court as well. However, none of them shine as brightly as the real star outside of the games.
The off-court star is Phoenix Mercury’s guard, Sophie Cunningham. Her only real competition seems to be the social media critics who have labeled her a “MAGA terf.”
This is another easy win for her.
Sophie finished second in the All-Star skills competition, made a splash at the orange carpet appearance, and enjoyed courtside seats for the actual All-Star game where she displayed her chugging skills.

The traditional fans probably didn’t appreciate any of that. They likely thought Sophie wouldn’t get any spotlight during the All-Star Weekend, but she proved them wrong.
After stealing the show on the orange carpet, she further fueled the haters by making an appearance during the All-Star Game. It’s all fodder for their meltdowns.
Sophie is making the most of the extended All-Star/Olympic break. She found a boat, a bikini, and some attention on social media. According to her caption, the only thing missing is a “boat boy.”
I can already predict the inundation of her DMs after this post.
This post has all the makings of going viral and stirring up some drama. It’s certainly a lively way to kick off the Olympic portion of the WNBA break.
No relaxing break before the season picks back up for Sophie, that’s for sure.
