Numerous basketball enthusiasts tuned in to watch the intense moments of the Olympics women’s basketball final between Team USA and France. Despite a last-second shot from France’s Gabby Williams that could have forced overtime, Team USA secured their eighth consecutive gold medal with a final score of 67-66.

France put up a tough fight, especially with their defense against A’ja Wilson and impressive offensive plays by Williams. However, Team USA’s depth, with contributions from the bench players, ultimately made the difference.

Box score at a Glance

Kahleah Copper’s standout performance in the gold medal game included 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, providing a crucial spark for Team USA. Wilson, despite initial struggles, finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and key defensive plays, earning her the tournament MVP title.

Kelsey Plum and Sabrina Ionescu made significant contributions off the bench, helping the team secure the victory. Williams stood out for France with 19 points, showcasing her talent and resilience.

Copper to Gold

Copper’s game-changing performance was crucial, especially when Wilson and Breanna Stewart faced challenges from France’s defense. Copper’s impact on both ends of the floor was instrumental in securing the victory for Team USA.
