WNBA Should Suspend Dijonai Carrington For Seemingly Stabbing Caitlin Clark in the Eye
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Throughout this WNBA season, Caitlin Clark has been targeted with flagrant fouls more than any other player.

Interestingly, the players who most frequently resorted to unsportsmanlike conduct while defending Clark happened to be her most vocal critics, such as Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter, and Dijonai Carrington.

During Game 1 of the Sun-Fever playoff series, Carrington purposely jammed her finger into Clark’s eye, resulting in a black eye for Clark. Shockingly, the referees did not call a foul on the play.

Upon reviewing footage from various angles, it appears that Carrington deliberately jabbed Clark’s eye with her nail, and she did not show any concern for Clark’s well-being afterward.

Carrington is among the women surrounding the WNBA who have become known for their animosity towards Clark and her popularity.

In past instances, Carrington has made derogatory remarks about Clark and accused her fans of racism.

In response to a reporter questioning her about criticism faced by Chennedy Carter, who had aggressively confronted Clark on the court, Clark chose not to engage in the drama and focused on her job as a basketball player.

It’s perplexing how Carrington, who has a history of targeting Clark, demanded that Clark defend her on-court actions against other black players.

Carrington’s social media posts indicate a dislike for Clark and white people in general, based on false narratives of white privilege influencing Clark’s popularity.

There are multiple videos circulating showing Carrington seemingly poking Clark’s eye intentionally, leading to concern over the jealousy and bitterness displayed towards Clark by some black women in the league.

It’s crucial for the WNBA to address this behavior and hold players accountable, but the league has not taken disciplinary action against Carrington.

The targeting of Clark on the court continues, as some view it as acceptable due to the prevailing narrative. However, Clark’s presence has undeniably boosted the league’s popularity.

Despite facing resentment and hostility, Clark remains a significant figure in the WNBA’s success.
