Kamilla Cardoso admits she was challenging to work with during this Chicago Sky season.
After her rookie season was interrupted by a shoulder injury, Cardoso struggled to accept a four-week break from basketball. She clashed with team doctors and trainers, feeling frustrated by the setback. However, she eventually cooperated and worked through the recovery process.
Despite the challenges, Cardoso showed promise as a dominant post player in the league, averaging 9.8 points and 7.8 rebounds in 32 games. She particularly excelled after the Olympic break, showcasing impressive stats and earning recognition for her shot-blocking abilities.
Although her rookie season was cut short by another shoulder injury, Cardoso’s potential was evident throughout. The Sky struggled to maximize the impact of the No. 3 pick in the draft on offense, but Cardoso remains committed to improving her skills in the offseason.
Cardoso plans to play in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association during the offseason to focus on enhancing her shooting abilities and defensive techniques. Despite the challenges and setbacks, she remains grateful for the opportunity to live out her dream in the WNBA.
