The Los Angeles Sparks star discusses the “unforgettable” proposal in Paris exclusively with PEOPLE
Cameron Brink is soon to be a bride—and she still can’t believe it!
The 22-year-old WNBA star’s partner Ben Felter proposed during a trip to Paris Fashion Week on Sept. 30, and Brink shares with PEOPLE that she was completely taken aback by the romantic gesture.
“I learned that I was going to Paris about a month prior to attend the Balenciaga show where they were going to outfit me,” Brink reveals, as she discusses her new collaboration with SoFi.
The Los Angeles Sparks player admits she debated whether or not to go on the trip at all, as she’s been “working really hard rehabbing” after a surgery on her torn ACL.
“And I’m currently in school,” adds the newly-engaged athlete.

“But I thought, ‘I’m putting in so much effort. Why not take a break and enjoy it?’ because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and to keep it short, we attended the show.”
Following the fashion show—which Brink, dressed in a full leopard attire, describes as “incredible”—the WNBA star believed her night would conclude with the Balenciaga after-party.
“I thought I was getting ready for the after-party, but in reality, the after-party was my fiancé waiting for me at the top of the Shangri-La in Paris,” she details.

“The view was absolutely stunning,” Brink recalls, mentioning that Felter managed to surprise her with the proposal and the trip to Paris without her suspecting a thing. “He caught me completely off guard! I had no idea it was coming, and I have no clue how they managed to keep it a secret.”
Felter, who is in his fifth year as a graduate student in Stanford’s computer science program, informed her that he had work commitments on the West Coast.
“It was an incredibly memorable experience and it was just fantastic,” Brink shares with PEOPLE while discussing her SoFi collaboration to launch their Give Her Credit campaign with Venus Williams.

Brink and Felter first crossed paths at Stanford, where he was a rower and she rose to fame in the university basketball team. They began dating on March 10, 2021, and although they keep their relationship mostly private, they commemorated their third anniversary with heartfelt Instagram posts last March.
In June, Brink revealed to PEOPLE that she and Felter enjoy beach outings and hikes together in their free time in Los Angeles, and he even taught her how to surf.
Felter also sparked one of her latest passions, turning her into “a big art enthusiast,” Brink reveals. “I adore pottery and watercolors, even if I’m not great at it,” she admits. “It’s wonderful to sit down and stimulate your mind in a different way for a bit.”
