The Dallas Wings announced the firing of head coach Latricia Trammell after two seasons on Friday afternoon. Trammell led the team to a 22-18 record and a first-round playoff victory in 2023, but their performance declined to a 9-31 record in 2024 due to injuries and defensive struggles.
Trammell is the fourth WNBA head coach to be fired since the end of the 2024 regular season, joining Curt Miller of the Los Angeles Sparks, Teresa Weatherspoon of the Chicago Sky, and Tanisha Wright of the Atlanta Dream. With a new CBA on the horizon and the addition of an expansion team in 2025, organizations are showing little tolerance for underperformance, leading to swift coaching changes.
In a statement, Dallas President and CEO Greg Bibb announced Trammell’s dismissal, thanking her for her efforts and wishing her well in the future.
After her departure, Trammell expressed gratitude for her time with the team and looked forward to her next coaching opportunity.
With the departure of Amber Cox, Dallas is looking to hire a new general manager who will then choose the next head coach. Bibb stated that the search for a new general manager has already begun.
The organization is considering Curt Miller and Katie Smith for the general manager position, with the upcoming head coach hire marking Dallas’ fifth in the last few years.
Changes are happening with the Dallas Wings.
Latricia Trammell is OUT as the head coach, and Greg Bibb will hand over his General Manager duties, @TheNextHoops first to report.
Wings have interest in Curt Miller and Lynx associate coach Katie Smith as potential GMs.

Despite the changes, Dallas remains an appealing job with standout players like Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally performing well. Ogunbowale was named to the All-WNBA Second Team, while Sabally showcased her skills after recovering from an injury.
The Wings also have a strong chance of securing the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, owning favorable odds to land the top selection.
