SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – College Basketball is right around the corner, and the preseason honors are already starting to come out.
South Dakota’s Grace Larkins is on the preseason watch list for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year.
Larkins was named to the Summit League preseason First Team Tuesday, and she joins the list of 25 players across the country to start this year.
Larkins is entering her senior year, averaging 16 and a half points, seven and a half rebounds, and nearly five assists per game last season. And she’s excited to get this year underway with a new coach and a new system.
“Luckily for some of us, we’ve already been through it because we had to learn a new system. This is our third coach. So that helps, just the adjustment of being been through it before. It has similar and different aspects to a lot of different things that we’ve ran before. I really enjoy it,” Larkins said.
Larkins is the fourth Coyote to be named to the watch list. Ciara Duffy won the inaugural award in 2020. Hannah Sjerven was named to the watch list twice in 2021 and 2022, while Chloe Lamb also made the list in 2022.
