Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant is unlikely to compete professionally in mixed martial arts again. After transitioning to power slap, bare knuckle fighting, boxing, and professional wrestling, she discussed with MMA Junkie Radio why MMA may be in her past.
“I don’t like to completely close the door, but it would be challenging for me to return to MMA,” she explained. “Not because I don’t love it or lack passion for it. But, I’ve broken my arm five times in my life, four of which were within two years of competing. I underwent two surgeries and still have a large plate in my forearm.
“So, the thought of risking another arm injury, surgery, and setback is difficult for me. I can still experience the thrill of competing and adrenaline rush without risking my body. If I break my arm, it’s more about the mental strength. I don’t know if I can endure that again. It was a tough few years.”
