Trey Murphy III and the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a four-year, $112 million contract extension. Murphy’s deal contains no incentives or player options.
Murphy, the 17th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft out of Virginia, has emerged as one of the top young wings in the NBA. Last season, he shot 38.0 percent on 7.81 three-point attempts per game. Murphy also averaged 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 29.7 minutes for the Pelicans.
With the uncertain future of Brandon Ingram, Murphy is expected to take on a larger role with the Pelicans.
