Iga Swiatek is confirmed to participate in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals scheduled to take place from November 13-20 at the Martin Carpena Arena in Malaga, Spain. The Polish tennis star recently announced this exciting news on her Instagram account.
After parting ways with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski and bringing Wim Fissette on board, Swiatek expressed her enthusiasm for competing in the team event:
See you in Malaga! I’m happy to announce that I will play in the BJKC Finals. I’m glad that I’ll play for my country and proudly represent Poland. Together with team Poland we will give our best on the court.
The five-time Grand Slam champion, who was initially not part of Dawid Celt’s lineup, will now team up with Magdalena Frech, Magda Linette, Maja Chwalinska, and Katarzyna Kawa for the competition. Swiatek holds an impressive 9-2 win-loss record in Billie Jean King Cup singles matches, with her only two losses dating back to 2019.
Swiatek’s most recent match was in September at the US Open, where she experienced a quarterfinal loss to Jessica Pegula. Following that, she chose to skip the Asian Swing.
In addition to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, where Poland will go up against hosts Spain in the opening match, Swiatek is also gearing up for the WTA Finals in Riyadh earlier in November. This presents her with a valuable opportunity to reclaim the No. 1 ranking from Aryna Sabalenka. (source: Billie Jean King Cup)
