Devin Haney is teaming up with an old rival to pull off an upset on Saturday.
“I’m backing Regis (Prograis) this weekend,” Haney announced on social media in reference to Prograis’ upcoming fight against Jack Catterall.
Haney convincingly defeated Prograis last December during a successful 140 lb title defense. Interestingly, Haney’s father and trainer Bill Haney disagrees with his son’s choice, stating that he is supporting Catterall instead.
Catterall (29-1, 13 KO) is the clear favorite at -460 at FanDuel, while Prograis (29-2, 24 KO) is the underdog at +340.
More than just the result of Prograis’ recent fights, there is concern that he hasn’t looked like himself for some time now, dating back to at least 2022. Additionally, the win over Jose Zepeda might be somewhat inflated, as Zepeda’s performance has declined noticeably as well.
Catterall’s most recent fight was on May 25, where he finally got his much-awaited rematch with Josh Taylor and secured the victory that many believed was taken from him in their initial encounter in 2022.
Be sure to check back tomorrow morning for Bad Left Hook’s staff predictions and see if anyone is supporting Haney’s Prograis selection!
