Stephanie White is coming back to her roots in Indiana.
After leaving the Sun following two seasons and a WNBA Finals appearance, White was announced as the Indiana Fever’s next head coach. White, a former player, assistant, and head coach of the Fever, has deep ties to the organization as well as her home state of Indiana.
Now coaching the Fever, White will lead the team’s No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, Caitlin Clark, a rising star in women’s basketball who has captured audiences with her impressive skills.
Caitlin Clark, known for her success in both college basketball and the WNBA, was the near-unanimous choice for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award this past season.
President of Basketball Operations Kelly Krauskopf expressed excitement about White’s return, highlighting her basketball expertise and leadership qualities that make her an ideal fit for the Fever.
White’s coaching tenure with the Sun included a playoff sweep of the Fever in 2024, but she had previously celebrated a WNBA championship with the Fever as part of the coaching staff in 2012.
Excited to lead the Fever and deliver another WNBA title, White expressed her commitment to the franchise and the Indiana basketball community.
In the 2024 season, the Fever finished with a 20-20 record, placing them sixth among the 12 WNBA teams.
Following the departure of Christie Sides, who coached the team for two seasons, White is set to take on the challenge of guiding the Fever to success.
As Sides reflected on her time with the team and the change in leadership, she shared a message on X platform, emphasizing the importance of leaving things better than how they were found.
