Basketball superstar A’ja Wilson stood tall next to actress Aubrey Plaza at the Wall Street Journal Magazine’s 2024 Innovator Awards show. Wilson, who is 6-foot-4, flashed a smile next to Plaza, who is 5-foot-6, at the event.
The two-time WNBA MVP had another outstanding season, averaging 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game. Despite her individual success, the Las Vegas Aces fell short in the playoffs, losing to the New York Liberty in the semifinals.
At the same time, Plaza, along with Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart, led the Liberty to their first-ever WNBA title after defeating the Minnesota Lynx in the Finals.
While Wilson may still be disappointed with the playoff outcome, she was honored at the Innovator Awards and received the Innovator Award for Sports. In her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude to her teammates for their support and emphasized the importance of teamwork in her success.
Looking back at the record-breaking season where she surpassed 1000 points, Wilson acknowledged the contributions of her teammates and expressed her appreciation for the camaraderie in the Aces locker room.
Despite the playoff setback, Wilson remains proud of her team’s performance and is determined to continue striving for success in the upcoming season.
