The Butler women’s basketball program set a new single-game attendance record on Wednesday afternoon. 2,941 fans packed Hinkle Fieldhouse to watch the Bulldogs defeat Chicago State 87-45. Two Bulldogs recorded a double-double and every player made at least one shot from the field in the victory.
Kilyn McGuff led Butler with a game-high 17 points in her Bulldog debut. The Belmont transfer also supplied BU with 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season. Cristen Carter was also excellent for BU in the season opener with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Butler shot nearly 47 percent from the field in the win and forced Chicago State into committing 29 turnovers. The game was tied at 18-18 after the first quarter, but BU would lead CSU by 15 at the half. They moved forward to outscore Chicago State 28-7 in the third, pushing them to an 87-45 win.
Butler used a 13-0 scoring run late in the third quarter to increase their advantage. They shot 56.3 percent over that 10-minute stretch.
