Following the first deals of this year’s free agency for a position player and starting pitcher, there are three things to watch out for today:
1. Is the Marlins’ managerial search wrapping up?
With Will Venable recently hired by the White Sox, the Marlins are now the only team without a manager for the upcoming season. The search seems to be reaching its conclusion, as Marlins president Peter Bendix hinted at nearing a decision. Names like Clayton McCullough and George Lombard are still in the mix.
2. Angels preparing for a 40-man roster move:
After signing Kyle Hendricks, the Angels need to make room for him on the 40-man roster. Possible options include designating a player for assignment or exploring a trade to free up a spot.
