The Dallas Wings have appointed Curt Miller, former head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks and Connecticut Sun, as their new Executive Vice President and General Manager on Friday. This announcement is significant as it narrows down the list of potential candidates for the Washington Mystics’ General Manager vacancy.
Miller has previous experience as a General Manager, having held the position with the Sun from 2017-22. During his time there, he was named the WNBA’s Executive of the Year and led the team to two WNBA Finals appearances, where they were defeated by the Mystics in 2019 and the Las Vegas Aces in 2022.
Both the Wings and the Mystics are participating in the 2025 WNBA Draft Lottery, with a 45.4 percent chance of securing the No. 1 pick. Dallas holds a 27.6 percent chance with their own pick, and they also have a draft pick swap with the Chicago Sky, who have a 17.8 percent chance of obtaining the No. 1 pick. If Chicago wins, the pick goes to Dallas.
Although the Wings have swiftly made their General Manager decision, Monumental Basketball President Michael Winger need not worry too much. The desirability of the Mystics’ General Manager position could change depending on whether they secure the No. 1 pick or land at No. 4 based on lottery results.
