Fred Vasseur assures that Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is not a mere “holiday”, but a strategic decision.
The switch from Mercedes to Ferrari next year will see the collaboration of Formula 1’s most successful driver with its most successful team.
Vasseur, the Ferrari team principal, stressed that it is not a late-career move for Hamilton.
Speaking about recruiting Hamilton to Gazzetta, Vasseur said, “It wasn’t difficult, actually.
Ferrari has always been on his mind in some ways and now the timing is perfect.
He’s here to win, not for leisure. And I’m confident that we have all it takes to succeed.”
Hamilton will team up with Charles Leclerc, who is also determined to achieve glory in F1.
Leclerc’s journey with Ferrari began much earlier than Hamilton’s.
“I was 3-4 years old playing with a little red car while a grand prix was on,” Leclerc recalled.
Vasseur has a long history with both Hamilton and Leclerc.
Talking about Leclerc, Vasseur said, “He’s always been hardworking, not arrogant – a continuous learner.”
Leclerc also highlighted their unfiltered communication and supportive work environment.
Vasseur emphasized the importance of a good relationship between teammates for success in F1.
