The WNBA has announced Azurá Stevens of the Los Angeles Sparks as the recipient of the 2024 Seasonlong WNBA Cares Community Assist Award for her dedication to supporting and uplifting youth in Los Angeles and neighboring communities.
Throughout the 2024 season, Stevens took part in various local events, including:
- Air West Skills Clinic: On May 8, Stevens conducted basketball drills and a Q&A session with youth.
- Shoes That Fit Community Shoe Drive: On May 22, Stevens assisted in distributing 900 pairs of new shoes to students at South Park Elementary School in South Central Los Angeles.
- UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital Visit: On July 15, Stevens visited UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital to spend time with patients, parents, and nurses.
- Jr. Sparks x Shiekh Impact: On Aug. 10, Stevens participated in a back-to-school event for girls in Compton and hosted a clinic on healthy habits on Sept. 16.
- Read to Achieve: On Sept. 20, Stevens visited South Park Elementary School to read to students and share her experiences as a professional athlete.
Upon receiving the award, Stevens expressed her gratitude and emphasized the importance of community outreach:

In recognition of Stevens’ achievement, the WNBA will donate $20,000 to the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County in North Carolina.
