Norbert Michelisz clinched his second consecutive drivers’ title for the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team at the 2024 Macau Guia Race. The race saw a dominant 1-2-3 finish for GOAT Racing Honda led by Serbian driver Dušan Borković, who also secured his first world touring car victory.
In the first race of the weekend, Cyan Racing’s Thed Björk emerged victorious, putting pressure on Michelisz. However, starting from tenth position on the grid in the final race, Björk needed to overtake Michelisz on track to snatch the title.
Due to heavy rain, the race start was delayed, but eventually took place on a drying track. Local drivers Andy Yan and Martin Cao started on wet tyres, with Cao initially leading the race. Michelisz, starting on wets as well, quickly moved up the order.
As the track dried, the slick-shod GOAT Racing Hondas made their way to the front. Borković claimed the lead, followed by his teammates Guerrieri and Butti. Michelisz secured fifth place, which was enough to secure the championship.
Reflecting on his victory, Michelisz praised his team and teammates for their support throughout the season, highlighting their teamwork and efficiency.
