WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Korin Baker had an outstanding performance, scoring a season-high 26 points on 11-16 shooting to lead the Whitman College women’s basketball team to a 72-51 victory over East Texas Baptist University in the Kim Evanger Raney Memorial Classic.
Carly Martin contributed 13 points and Lindsey Drango added eight points and seven rebounds for the Blues (4-0) who shot just under 50% for the game. Their 14-rebound advantage resulted in 22 second-chance points.
Payton Hicks led the Tigers (3-1) with 12 points.
Whitman started strong with an 8-0 run and maintained the lead throughout the game. Baker led early with key shots, and despite a tie at 10-10, the Blues regrouped to establish a six-point lead by the end of the first quarter. The team expanded their lead in the second quarter and continued to dominate, eventually securing a comfortable victory.
