Thinking of becoming a UFC fighter?
Michael Chandler learned firsthand about the toll it can take on the body after his fight with Charles Oliveira at UFC 309. The rematch was a grueling battle that went the distance, leaving both fighters exhausted.
Chandler showed incredible resilience during the fight, nearly mounting a comeback in the final round. However, he later admitted that it was the most pain he had ever experienced.
Now, Chandler is focusing on recovering from the intense bout. He is dealing with pitting edema swelling on his leg, along with bruises and scrapes.
In a video shared on his Instagram, Chandler displayed the deep indentation on his leg caused by the swelling. Pitting edema occurs when excess fluid builds up in the tissues, but can typically resolve on its own with elevation and rest.
Chandler has been actively seeking different methods to aid in his recovery, such as using a hyperbaric chamber, red light therapy, and cold plunges. He is also awaiting the results of MRIs as he looks ahead to future fights in 2025.
