Angel Reese recently responded to an online commenter who criticized her layup performance on the court. The Chicago Sky player fired back on X (formerly known as Twitter) in defense of her rookie WNBA season layups.
The user posted on Tuesday, Nov. 26, “U realize u can’t make a lay up on the first try most times, right?”
Reese, 22, responded minutes later, “Do you realize I got drafted 7th in my class while ‘missing layups’ as a ROOKIE shooting 39% on the year & was STILL an all-star and that was the worst you’ll ever see me??? or you just laid up with your dog at home hating Adam??”
Since joining the Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft in April, Reese had a remarkable rookie season, breaking records with a triple-double and becoming the fastest player in league history to score 20 double-doubles in just 27 games.
Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds during her first season, according to Sports Illustrated. She was sidelined in September due to a wrist injury but expressed gratitude for the impact she made in the league.

Reflecting on her rookie year, Reese shared, “What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol.”
Reese added, “Through it all, I have shown that I belong in this league even when no one else believed… I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season-ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next.”
