Sunday marked the end of a four-game losing streak for Baker Mayfield and the Bucs. In their first win in a month, Baker played exceptionally well. Mayfield went 24-30 for 294 yards, helping lead the Bucs offense to scores on five of their first six drives, including running for an 11-yard touchdown. His 9.8 yards per attempt was his highest mark this season and the second highest in his time in Tampa Bay.
Mayfield’s performance was exceptional. His completion percentage over expected was +8.9%, showing his efficiency. His expected points added per drop back was +0.42, demonstrating his impact on the team’s success. Even when he had to create plays out of structure, Mayfield excelled, such as his 11-yard touchdown scramble.
His ability to capitalize on opportunities outside the typical offensive structure was evident, like his precise pass to Payne Durham. Even on rare instances where he had to improvise, Mayfield delivered. This included his impressive deep passes and strategic decisions.
Baker wants to go to the dig, but Okereke falls back under it brilliantly. He has the swing to Bucky, but pulls it down, gets out and lofts a beauty for Durham.

Baker’s Big Shots Are Back
The highlight of the game was Mayfield’s success with deep passes, attempting and completing several. His performance in this area was crucial, boosting his season-long completion rate on deep throws to 34.4%. With the return of key players and Mayfield’s growing confidence in deep passes, the Bucs offense gained a missing element. Mayfield showcased his skills with precise throws, especially on deep routes.

Mayfield’s ability to recognize defensive schemes and make accurate throws under pressure was outstanding. His performance, including strategic plays like to Rakim Jarrett, demonstrated elite quarterback talent.
Just an incredible throw to take advantage of a small mistake by the corner. Don’t think Rak expected it. But good late hands to haul in the dime. pic.twitter.com/s0m399oQu4

Despite challenging weather conditions, Mayfield maintained composure and executed plays flawlessly. His performance without turnovers while making impactful plays earned him praise. With this level of play, Mayfield has the potential to elevate his team and lead them deep into the playoffs.
The Bucs will rely on this version of Baker as they navigate the second half of the season. If he sustains this exceptional performance, the team is poised for success.
