The new 3×3 Unrivaled league was hit with a second huge blow on Thanksgiving when Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum withdrew from the competition.
She announced the news on Instagram, saying: ‘I’ve decided to not take part in the inaugural season of Unrivaled in order to take some more time for myself this offseason.
‘I appreciate the league understanding and being so accommodating. I wish the league and all of the players nothing but the best and I’m excited to watch!’
It follows Caitlin Clark’s decision not to play in the offseason competition despite reports of a seven-figure offer.
The Unrivaled season begins January 17 and runs through to March, with the next WNBA season expected to start in May.
Plum had been named on the roster of the Laces, one of six teams formed for the competition.

Caitlin Clark has also turned down the chance to play in the opening season of the league
She was scheduled to be on the team with Kayla McBride, Alyssa Thomas, Courtney Williams, Kate Martin, and Stefanie Dolson.
The 30-year-old Plum played 44 games for the Aces last season and also won Olympic gold for Team USA in Paris.
Earlier in 2024, Plum got divorced from former NFL player Darren Waller after less than a year of marriage.
‘I am devastated. I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go,’ Plum said on X.
‘God has given me an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends. One day I’ll share my story, today is not that day.
‘Thank you for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward. Today and everyday I will continue to choose joy.’
