WNBA star Caitlin Clark made a remarkable 1,691.5-mile journey from Indiana to Arizona to support her boyfriend at a basketball game on Thanksgiving night, alongside her family.
The reigning Rookie of the Year is currently taking a break after a stellar first season. Drafted as the top overall pick by the Indiana Fever, the talented point guard exceeded expectations and set multiple league records.
Following her team’s playoff loss in September, Clark has been exploring different hobbies, including honing her golf skills during the off-season. This week, the 22-year-old was seen in the audience at Mullett Arena in Arizona, cheering on her boyfriend as Butler University faced the Northwestern Wildcats.
Instead of playing, the former Iowa standout was seen rooting for her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, on Thanksgiving night. McCaffery, an assistant coach for the Bulldogs, guided his team to a close 71-69 victory while his girlfriend watched from the stands.
Clark traveled to Tempe with her brothers Blake and Colin, while their parents Brent and Anne also showed their support at the game. McCaffery has also been spotted at several Indiana Fever games recently, reciprocating the support. The couple’s relationship began in April last year.
In a touching show of love, McCaffery took to social media in January to wish his beloved a happy birthday, expressing admiration and affection. He wrote: “Wish I was there to celebrate with you – you deserve the best day. With all that you’ve already accomplished, there is so much more in store for you and your special self. I admire you in every way and I love you.”
In another heartfelt tribute, McCaffery celebrated their first anniversary on April 24, expressing his awe for the WNBA star with words of love: “One year with the best. Doing life with you has been easy, and you never cease to amaze me. Can’t wait to watch you live out your dreams in person. Love you.”
Clark reciprocated the sentiment in July as she marked her boyfriend’s 26th birthday with sweet words: “Celebrating you is easy. Thankful to have someone as selfless and loving as you in my life. May this be the year you finally find a way to outshoot me. Love you always.”
The couple has been unafraid of public displays of affection, turning heads on the red carpet at last month’s Golden Gala and attending various sporting events, including Indiana Pacers games and even a New York Yankees game.
