Over the weekend, former Iowa Hawkeyes and Las Vegas Aces player Kate Martin was chosen by the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA Expansion Draft, making headlines in the women’s basketball world.
This announcement was significant due to Martin’s large fan following and the potential for increased attention and revenue when she joins the Golden State team.
Martin has already bid farewell to Las Vegas and shared her excitement for the next chapter by posting a TikTok video captioned, “See you later Las Vegas! Can’t wait for the next chapter 💜 #diml [Day in My Life]”.
The video showcased Martin’s final day in Las Vegas, starting with packing and moving preparations with her girlfriend Claire Gransee.
The couple enjoyed breakfast at Martin’s favorite diner, listened to the “Wicked” soundtrack in the car, and then headed to the Aces’ practice facility for Martin to clean out her locker.
Following this, Martin and Gransee packed up her apartment, rented a U-Haul van, and capped the night with dinner and a Cirque du Soleil show, joined by Aces players Kiah Stokes and Alysha Clark.
The day ended with Martin and Gransee riding a rollercoaster before saying goodnight.
Martin is eagerly anticipating this new phase in her professional basketball career.
