Only 16 teams remain in the 2024 NCAA volleyball tournament after the first round matches last week, leading to the upcoming four Regional showdowns this weekend.
Hosted by the top seeds (Pitt, Nebraska, Penn State, and Louisville), each Regional tournament will send one team to the national semifinals in Louisville next Thursday.
Regional action kicks off in the ACC
The Pitt and Louisville Regionals will kick off the Sweet Sixteen action with matches on Thursday. The Panthers will host No. 7 Missouri, No. 3 Kentucky, and No. 4 Oregon. Louisville will host No. 2 Stanford, No. 4 Purdue, and No. 6 Florida.
Pittsburgh defeated Missouri on Thursday, extending their winning streak to 14 matches. The Panthers will face tough competition as they aim for another victory against Oregon.
The evening’s matches will feature Stanford against Florida and Louisville against Purdue, with both games expected to be closely contested.
The Big Ten begins hosting on Friday
Friday’s Regional semifinals will take place on Big Ten courts, with Penn State hosting Creighton, Texas, and Marquette, while Nebraska welcomes Wisconsin, Dayton, and Texas A&M.
The matches will feature top teams like Creighton, Texas, and Wisconsin, with exciting matchups expected on Friday.
Sunday’s games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and ESPN2, with the Nebraska Regional final airing on ABC at 3 PM ET and the Penn State finale on ESPN at 8:30 PM ET.
