Joel Embiid had to leave the Philadelphia 76ers’ 121-107 defeat against the Indiana Pacers due to a blow to the face while going for a defensive rebound. Bennedict Mathurin accidentally struck Embiid with his forearm and elbow, resulting in a sinus fracture diagnosis for Embiid.
He was ruled out by the team early in the second half due to the “impact to the right side of the face.”
The 76ers are currently investigating whether there are any other facial fractures present.
Embiid has previously suffered facial injuries, such as an orbital bone fracture during the 2022 playoffs against the Toronto Raptors and another in 2018 after colliding with teammate Markelle Fultz.
