As the Los Angeles Dodgers solidify their winning roster for 2025, a new addition to the team is already making waves with predictions to win the Cy Young award next season.
According to MLB Network’s Harold Reynolds, left-hander Blake Snell is the frontrunner to win the Cy Young in his debut season with the Dodgers.
“I think it’s Blake Snell,” Reynolds stated. “I have been saying all winter that he is currently the best pitcher in baseball. Now, with him on the best team in baseball, I believe he has what it takes to dominate. His pitching is electric, and he has proven that he doesn’t need to go deep into games. After his no-hitter, I think he will fit perfectly into the Dodgers’ style of play, providing five to six innings of lights out pitching.”
Snell, aged 32, displayed outstanding form towards the end of the last season. Despite landing on the injured list twice in 2024, he returned stronger and showcased his talent with impressive stats in the second half of the season.
Reynolds’ forecast aligns with president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman’s sentiments about Snell’s potential during his introductory press conference.
“Given his success, we are excited about the upside and potential for even greater accomplishments that Blake brings to our team. His impact on our pursuit of a World Series this year and beyond is immense,” Friedman expressed.
There are high expectations for Snell in Los Angeles, as he aims to achieve new heights with the team. Winning the Cy Young next season would mark his third time receiving the award — with each win from a different team.
