The Sky, with a record of 13-22, now hold a one-game lead over the Atlanta Dream for the final playoff spot with five games left in the regular season.
Carter, the fourth pick in the 2020 WNBA draft, had a strong performance making 10-of-17 shots, sinking a 3-pointer, going 7 of 9 from the free-throw line, and dishing out six assists.
Dallas, with a record of 9-26, has lost four consecutive games after a three-game winning streak.
Isabelle Harrison had a season-high 21 points and nine rebounds in her first start of the season for the Sky, while Kamilla Cardoso contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds. Dana Evans scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and Michaela Onyenwere added 10 points.
Carter’s 11 points in the first quarter helped Chicago establish a comfortable lead with a 33-19 score going into the second quarter after a 13-1 run.
For the Wings, Arike Ogunbowale led with 23 points and Natasha Howard added 17. Satou Sabally finished with 12 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.
Ogunbowale and Sabally combined for 28 of Dallas’ 35 first-half points.
Rookie Angel Reese, who set WNBA single-season records for total rebounds and offensive rebounds, did not play for Chicago due to a wrist injury sustained in the previous game against Los Angeles. Reese also achieved the second-highest number of double-doubles in WNBA history with 26, including a league-record 15 consecutive.
