The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), a women’s professional basketball league based in the United States, has formed a long-term partnership with the American sports brand, Reebok.
As part of this agreement, the global sportswear giant has become the official footwear supplier for the league.
Reebok, along with its players, will focus on creating inspirational and entertaining content that engages fans with the game and its up-and-coming stars. This content will feature Reebok athletes such as Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky and Lexie Brown of the Los Angeles Sparks.
Colie Edison, Chief Growth Officer of the WNBA, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “The WNBA continues to expand with renowned brands, and we are eager to have Reebok on board to elevate women’s basketball and inspire the next generation. Our collaboration with Reebok will further increase visibility for the league, attracting more fans to the sport.”
In 2021, Reebok announced its intention to reclaim its prominent position in the world of sports. This declaration was followed by the appointment of Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson as executives in the brand’s Basketball division, as well as the signing of rising basketball player and fashion icon Angel Reese.
Shaquille O’Neal, President of Reebok Basketball, commented, “It is a thrilling period for Reebok, the WNBA, and the sport of basketball overall. Reebok has always been dedicated to fostering the growth of the sport, and now, with a solid strategy, ample resources, and the support of the WNBA, we are fully committed to enhancing every aspect from products to players and more.”
This past summer, Angel Reese introduced her inaugural Reebok collection, ‘Reebok by Angel,’ and played a key role in the launch of Reebok’s newest performance basketball sneaker, the “Engine A.” In October, Reese and Reebok unveiled a multi-year deal and announced the release of her signature sneaker in 2026, making Reese the second WNBA player to have a Reebok signature shoe. Just recently, in mid-November, Reese was featured in Reebok’s global campaign, “Sport is Everything,” alongside a diverse group of emerging global athletes and artists.
Angel Reese expressed her gratitude towards Reebok, saying, “Reebok has been an incredible partner and advocate for women in sports. As powerful female athletes, we have the ability to inspire young players entering the sport. I am thrilled to see the WNBA and Reebok supporting each other, as I believe that together we are stronger and our influence extends further.”
Reebok has been producing basketball sneakers for women since the 1980s. In the 1990s, the company sponsored several of the top women’s collegiate basketball teams, with superstar Rebecca Lobo receiving her own signature shoe in 1997. Reebok also established marketing and licensing partnerships with various leagues including the ABL, NBA, and WNBA in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and sponsored the inaugural women’s high school all-American game.
