Head coach of the USWNT, Emma Hayes, has revealed her first roster of 2025 today, selecting 26 players for the January camp leading up to the SheBelieves Cup in February.
Since the camp is outside of an official FIFA international window, only players who play club soccer in the US were included in the roster.
To focus on the future, Hayes included 13 players with three or fewer caps, including six who have never played for the national team before.
Star forwards Mallory Swanson, Trinity Rodman, and Sophia Smith, known as Triple Espresso, were given time off for rest and recovery, while Rose Lavelle is recovering from ankle surgery.
Crystal Dunn, who missed several fall friendlies, has returned to the roster as the most experienced player with 155 caps.
The camp will run from January 14th to 21st at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
USWNT Futures Camp focuses on player development
Players in January’s camp will train alongside a 24-player Futures Camp of young US prospects, promoting development and providing scouting opportunities.
Hayes mentioned the importance of exposing players to top nations and acknowledged the need for international opportunities.
The Futures Camp roster will be announced on January 8th.
Hayes talks whirlwind USWNT tenure
Hayes discussed her rapid journey with the team, from joining in May 2024 to her recent accolades and unbeaten record with the USWNT.
