Daniel Cormier Look Back At Francis Ngannou Debacle

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has reflected on Jon Jones’ decision not to fight Francis Ngannou during their time with the promotion.

Jon Jones is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time in mixed martial arts. However, his career has not been without controversy. He is now set to face Tom Aspinall for the UFC heavyweight championship, a fight that many believe Jones has been avoiding.

Recently, Jones’ former opponent Daniel Cormier looked back at another instance where Jones did not fight a big name in the division.

Daniel Cormier discusses Jon Jones/Francis Ngannou

“It doesn’t matter, because even though Francis Ngannou isn’t as big a name as Jon Jones, people were still questioning Jones when he became champion. There was a gap in the heavyweight championship timeline. We need to see these big fights happen. It’s crucial to get him in there,” Cormier said.

Regardless of personal opinions on Jon Jones, it is important for the company and the sport that he faces Tom Aspinall. Jones missed out on fights with Adesanya and Ngannou in the past, and he can’t afford to avoid this one.
