Amid a stacked midweek NCAA basketball slate, No. 4 USC pulled off a tough road win against No. 8 Maryland, ending the Terrapins’ undefeated season.
Despite Shyanne Sellers leading with 26 points and Christina Dalce’s double-double, the Terps fell 79-74 in their first meeting with the Trojans since 1995.
New Big Ten team USC had to unite against Maryland’s defense, which limited star JuJu Watkins to 7-for-19 shooting and 1-for-5 from beyond the arc with eight turnovers. Watkins matched Kiki Iriafen’s 21 points before fouling out.
With guard Talia von Oelhoffen sidelined, USC’s top-ranked freshman class stepped up. Kennedy Smith, Avery Howell, and Kayleigh Heckel each scored in double digits to secure the win.
Ohio State narrowly survived against Michigan, while Nebraska upset Michigan State with a strong performance from Alexis Markowski.
LSU faces Tennessee in a tough matchup, with both teams showcasing strong offensive play. The Vols aim to bounce back after their first loss against the unbeaten Tigers.
