The Miami Heat are strategizing to have maximum cap space in the 2026 offseason. Currently, Miami only has $85 million committed for the 26-27 season against a projected salary cap of $170.6 million.
Players like Terry Rozier and Duncan Robinson will become free agents for the Heat that offseason.
While many players may sign extensions before 2026, projected free agents include the likes of Luka Doncic, De’Aaron Fox, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jaren Jackson Jr., Kevin Durant, and Mikal Bridges.
In recent seasons, there have been fewer players leaving their teams through free agency, with Paul George being a notable exception. Miami previously acquired Jimmy Butler through a sign-and-trade when he was a free agent, despite having no available cap space.
As Miami plans for 2026, they are considering their options for trading Butler without taking on long-term salary commitments.
