Satou Sabally has announced that she has played her final game for the Dallas Wings and plans to join a new team in the upcoming offseason. Speculation points to the Indiana Fever, led by Caitlin Clark, as a potential destination for her.
Recent attention around her departure resurfaced a clip from her June 2024 appearance on “Podcast P with Paul George.” In the clip, she talks about the “Caitlin Clark effect” and shares her views on how the rookie handles criticism, fueling rumors of her potential move to the Fever.
“And what I hope for her is that she still knows that there’s a community of women around her that want her to succeed,” Sabally said.
“Not everyone wants someone to fail, because if you want someone to fail, like, you’re jealous. You’re not great if you want someone else to fail because you can’t prove your own greatness, in my opinion.”
Fans reacted swiftly to the video, suggesting a possible shift to the Fever for Sabally.
“She’s definitely going to the Fever 🤣,” one fan commented.
“We need this energy for the @IndianaFever,” another fan added.
“She would fit in really well with the Fever! Great attitude, great player!” another fan expressed.
Additional fan reactions to Sabally’s thoughts on Clark were also shared.
“Hmmm interesting 🤔,” one fan remarked.
“Mature, reasonable, encouraging,” another commented.
“Soon to be teammates! 😍,” another fan excitedly observed.
Trade necessary for Fever to land Satou Sabally
Chloe Peterson of IndyStar suggests that the Indiana Fever may need to trade forward NaLyssa Smith, along with the No. 8 draft pick, to acquire Satou Sabally. Smith, who is in the final year of her contract, signed a three-year deal with the Fever in 2022.
Peterson’s report highlights that a trade involving Smith may be crucial for the Fever to secure Sabally, who had an impressive season as the 2024 Most Improved Player, showcasing strong stats in points, rebounds, and assists.
Sabally will be part of the Unrivaled basketball league alongside other notable players like Natasha Cloud, Brittney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu, Marina Mabrey, and Katie Lou Samuelson. Despite playing only 15 games this season, she had notable performances for the struggling Dallas Wings team.
